Dr. David Behlow
Throughout his career, Superintendent David Behlow,
Ph.D., has been both an educational leader and a student
advocate. Regardless of the diversity of his student
population, their economic status, or whether they
reside in an urban or suburban, high-growth or
landlocked setting, Dr. Behlow has worked tirelessly to
ensure each student develops the capacity to thrive. His
passion is education and his experience is immense.
For more than six years, Dr. Behlow has served as the
educational leader of Oswego Community Unit School
District 308. His goal for his approximately 15,000
students and 2,000 employees has been to ensure that the
district maintains its high educational expectations
within a caring community.
Professionally, Dr. Behlow models the lifelong learning
expectations he has for his students as part of the Mid
America Association of School Superintendents for the
top 100 superintendents in the nation, the Association
of Urban Superintendents for urban district
superintendents throughout the country, and the Large

half the school districts in Illinois.

a visible presence by serving the local communities
through his participation in a number of service groups
and organizations. Dr. Behlow is vice-president of the
Oswego Economic Development Committee, serves on the
board of directors of the Heritage Group YMCA and two
chambers of commerce, and serves as a member of the
local Optimist and Rotary Clubs.
A Wisconsin native, Dr. Behlow’s educational experiences
took him throughout his home state. Dr. Behlow is a
graduate of Sheboygan public schools and the University
of Wisconsin Green Bay, as well as earning a Masters
Degree in Educational Administration and a Doctorate in
Education from the University of Wisconsin Madison.
Dr. Behlow’s career in education began as a high school
teacher until being appointed an Administrative
Associate three years later. An offer to become a high
school assistant principal led Dr. Behlow into Minnesota
where he began a 16- year career in which he served as a
principal, assistant superintendent of instruction and
superintendent of schools before accepting the position
with District 308. |
