About the Administration
Mrs. Joanne Hedemann, Principal

Welcome to The Brokaw Early Learning Center!
Welcome and thank you for visiting our webpage. This has been an
amazing year for those of us in Early
Childhood education and working in the Oswego
CUSD #308. The opening of the first early learning center in the
district has truly been a dream come true for
many of our community members and staff, who
have been long time advocates for early intervention, its
benefits and the need to organize the programs for
young children, housed in
the district, under one roof.
It is both an honor and a
privilege to serve as the first administrator of
the Early Learning Center. My twenty - three years
in the field of education, with twelve of
them as a Four Year Old Kindergarten Teacher,
Early Childhood Special Education Teacher and Kindergarten/First
Grade Teacher, has afforded me the
opportunities to develop a deep sense of
respect for the innovation, creativity and persistence with which
teachers execute the curriculum and connect
the content to the State Learning
Standards, while taking into consideration the "Whole Child".
Each day the teachers and
staff at the Early Learning Center create an
excitement about teaching and learning. This has resulted in student
success, parent involvement and a commitment from
community members to be partners in this
wonderful neighborhood school.
The individual needs of each
student are paramount in the selection and
design of every learning experience. Children are afforded a variety
of opportunities to explore, discover, create
and imagine. Children are actively engaged in
the learning process, as they interact with their
teachers and their classmates, to achieve expected
outcomes and goals.
For those of us, who have the
great fortune to work within the walls of The
Brokaw Early Learning Center, there is a belief in the power of
early childhood education. We believe that together
with families and the community, we can build
a successful future for our young children.
Our door is always open.
Please call the Early Learning Center Office to
arrange a tour of the building and hear about the variety of
opportunities
for children and their families. You can do so by calling (630)
551-9600. I
look forward to meeting you. |
