SEED - Student Experiential Education Development
The
goal of this program is to provide opportunities for both
students and teachers. S.E.E.D. provides resources, including
materials, speakers, contacts, and workshops that will help
enhance educational experiences.
Science Extension Activities
The S.E.E.D. program works in conjunction with the
Hands on Science Program. Current programs include:
- Schoolyard gardens
- Ecology field trips
- Animals in Winter program
Social Studies Activities
The focus of the social activities is to make hands on
connections to local history. Partnerships with the Yorkville
Historical Society and Oswegoland Park District’s Little White
School Museum have created exciting opportunities. Third grade
students participate in a half day field trip where they try
pioneer chores, pioneer games, a one room school lesson, and
candle dipping.
Teambuilding Activities
Teambuilding activities are based on the Character
Counts program. Teambuilding activities have been created for
grades K – 12.
