The mission of the Oswego Community District 308 Elementary Learning
Disabilities Program is to accommodate diverse learners in order to
allow them to successfully reach their full educational and social
potential. Multi-sensory tools are used to address individual
learning styles. We highlight students’ strengths to help them feel
successful while providing strategies to promote learning. Through
teacher and parent collaboration, curriculum modifications, and
individualized instruction, students are empowered to succeed to the
best of their abilities.
Philosophy Statement
We believe all children can learn. They learn in different ways and
at different rates. Children need a safe and nurturing environment
that provides opportunities for their academic success, and promotes
their social and emotional development.
What is a Learning Disability?
A learning disability is a difficulty in acquiring basic academic
skills that is experienced by a person with average or above average
